Announcement for Youth
Here at Friedens youth play an important and active role in the ministries of our church family. Baptized as infants into the Family of God our youth join with adults to worship, to serve and to be the people of God in this place. Our youth ministry is shaped and guided by the Youth Ministry Team and the work of Part-time Youth Worker – Ben Polakoski; Associate in Ministry Pernelle DeVore, and Pastor Ed DeVore.
Our youth ministry here at Friedens is divided by age group as follows:
- Preschool – Grade 5
Activities for this age group include: after school programs, monthly parents’ nights out, hay rides, cook outs, swim nights, etc.
- Junior High – Grades 6-9
Catechism instruction is the main focus of these years. Catechism includes bi-weekly workshops, servant retreat events, mentoring, and open gym nights. The goals during these years is to help our youth grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and develop a relationship with adult Christian mentors to aide them in living out their faith.
- Senior High – Grades 9-12
ELCA Youth Gathering trips, a “Senior Saints” Dinner each fall, scavenger hunts, cooking Easter breakfast, and servant trips are just a few examples of ministry opportunities we have for this age group.
